Erin Conway founded Kismet House to share her renovation process and design ideas with the world after buying her first fixer-upper in 2016.
Erin initially started off with an Instagram page as an outlet while being a full-time mother who was living three hours away from her nearest family. She was home alone with her son, Finnegan, most of the time to raise him while her husband Matthew Conway worked full time as a fire captain for the State of California.
Kismet House serves as a creative outlet for Erin and six years later, she and her husband Matthew are now focusing on Kismet House as their primary business after Matthew retired from the California fire department.
Erin tried the ILVE Majestic II dual fuel range for four months before she posted the review. Her Majestic II dual fuel range in Blue-Grey with a solid door and a brass trim package is the most requested product to review in her kitchen renovation. She reviewed that pros outweigh the cons, and she will choose the same range again due to its blend of style, functionality, and customizable options.
This range is a remarkable blend of style and function, making it an excellent choice for those of us who want a timeless classic look, with a nod to French European kitchens of years past; but also love cooking with precision. This Italian-made range grabbed our eye with its beauty but there were several other aspects that made it a standout choice for us.
ILVE Range

Erin described her range as visually striking with the options of 213 custom colors, various trim finishes, and sleek Italian aesthetics to complement any kitchen décor. The trim options are available in brass, copper, chrome and burnished; the finishes are luxuriously beautiful and practical because it hides the fingerprints and splashes. This is perfect for families with young children like Erin because you do not have to worry about fingerprints. The various cooking options available are versatile because the range offers a smooth cooktop with induction technology, a gas cooktop option for those who want to cook with natural gas or liquid propane and a touch screen operating panel for convenient use. The oven preheats so fast, and Erin really enjoyed this feature because it reduced her wait time and she said, “It truly heats up so quickly it’s absolutely bananas.”
The distinctive features of the range include a griddle, pizza, convection, fan grill cooking, moist intensive cooking, multiple moist fan cooking and more which really impressed Erin. She described it as “ideal” for precise temperature control and whether you are roasting vegetables or baking cookies, the range offers versatility, functionality, and grand performance. Her range has a substantial cooking area with options like a fully removable griddle and a French top alongside the gas burners. The large oven provides ample space and multiple cooking modes while the small oven offers a rotisserie option, sufficient space for side dishes and smaller baking sheets. Matthew often uses the smaller side of the oven for his single serve portions of his meat course since Erin is a vegetarian. This versatile range with two ovens can be an excellent choice for families who have different food preferences and lifestyle choices.
Erin emphasized the difficulty in ordering and availability because the range can take a long time to arrive after ordering since each customization is hand crafted in Italy for the exclusive Italian craftsmanship. Customers cannot buy it easily online since the ILVE ranges are only available through its distributors and one can only see the product in their showrooms. The control panel at the top has European-style knobs and controls of the touch screen which can be confusing or challenging for some but once you get used to it, “it’s a breeze,” said Erin on navigating the control panel. She said it might be a learning curve for some users. Some users reported potential functional issues such as the oven tends to cook hotter than the set temperature, requiring recalibration and monitoring but Erin did not encounter any of these potential issues. “We have been very happy with our experience with order, delivery and customer care,” said Erin.
